Having trouble recording yourself in Magoosh?

We don't support audio recording on phones or tablets right now. Try again at a computer, and it should work a bit better!

Step 1: Problems with the recording type

It's possible that the software used to record your voice is not working well with your browser. Try using our Flash recorder to see if that helps.

NOTE:If you are using the "alternate" recorder instead of flash and you are on Chrome, note that Chrome only allows the recording with a secure connection. When recording with the "alternate" recorder, be sure to go to https://toefl.magoosh.com. If you use only "http://" and not "https", or if you do not include "https" at all, then it will not work.

In the meantime, if the different browser doesn't work and the different microphone doesn't work, but the other website does work, then you will have a place to record your answers while we look into the problem more. If you're using the other website to record, you can always hit "submit" in Magoosh even if you don't record your answer there. That way, you can keep your recorded answers on your computer, downloaded from that other site, and still move onto the next question in Magoosh without getting stuck.
